The centerpiece of Boys State is a week long political simulation. At the city level delegates elect Mayors and Aldermen who are responsible for the day to day operations of their city. Then within their parties, delegates conduct primaries in order to determine the best delegates to send to the statewide elections. The two parties then compete to elect state senators, state representatives, county judicial positions, and statewide offices.

After the elections, delegates must sit down and put partisan divisions aside as they run the mythical state of Magnolia. Legislators pass bills and hammer out a budget, the Governor and his cabinet work to fulfill their campaign promises, and the Judicial branch must try a critical case.

After the week is through, Delegates will have learned how state government works, not because of any textbook or lecture, but rather because they will have lived it.Type your paragraph here.
